The EN 9100 defines the framework for comprehensive quality management systems for suppliers to the aviation and aerospace industries based on the general quality management standard ISO 9001.
It is technically equivalent to SAE AS 9100/9110/9120 (America) and JISQ 9100 (Japan, partly Asia).

The series of standards was written and installed in 1999 by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE in the USA) and the European Association of Aerospace Industries.
